Planet Hollywood certainly does its best to come close to this distinction, and doesn't land too far off. That's because visitors from all over the world know what to expect when they come here to see the walls lined with great movie memorabilia and see Hollywood greats displayed on a big screen TV. Indeed, delighted island vacationers such as you and your family can take part in a truly enjoyable experience when you visit Planet Hollywood for a wide variety of topical entertainment and - of course - the delicious burgers and fries.
But in terms of cuisine, the menu doesn't just cut short here at burgers, fries, milkshakes and the rest. In fact, I was happily surprised to find that I could actually choose from certain specialty dishes that were infused with the zesty spirit of Mexican cooking. After all, eager vacationers like me and you do come to this country to get away; so we might as well experience a bit of local flavor.
When the food was brought out - a sumptuous fajita style chicken dish and, comically, a side of fries - I was already salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs. The rich aroma of home style Mexican cooking combined with the deliciously palatable United States influence - i.e. not too spicy - I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
Yet eating is definitely not the only thing to do at this action packed, entertaining and overall happy Planet Hollywood in Cancun. Indeed, being a sort of Rock 'n Roll club rivaling the famous Hard Rock here in Cancun as well, the Planet Hollywood is hard pressed to deliver on quality entertainment. This, to its credit, it does well, even considering the fierce competition provided by all of the other clubs including its closest Hard Rock competitor.
To its advantage, the Planet Hollywood club is located in a very attractive shopping and tourist destination that is super chic yet is still a little bit separated from the madness of the club strip in the Hotel Zone. From the looks of it, this Plaza Flamingo shopping center attracts a very decent crowd, looking to get out, have a good time - maybe throw down a drink or two - but mostly quite family friendly.
Nestled in among the Subway, the bank and the fine Cuban cigar shop, happy Cancún vacationers like you will be able to stop into the world famous Planet Hollywood and enjoy a family outing or just some decent, United States style cooking.
