Reserva Natural Tres Rios is an ecological park in an area of low subtropical jungle and mangrove on the Riviera Maya, between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It is located only 35 minutes south of Cancun International airport on the Riviera Maya on the Cancun-Tulum highway.
There are several ways in which you can enjoy an entire day exploring the Reserva Natural Tres Rios. Imagine kayaking, canoeing, or jet skiing through the mangroves swamps of this tropical reserve. You may decide to walk, horseback ride, or take a bike through the jungle trails. No matter which way you go you will feel the peering eyes all around with over 100 exotic animals peering out from the brush. Snorkeling off the coast and viewing the many tropical fish and ever-changing coral reefs will have you wishing you had remembered your underwater camera. Reserva Natural Tres Rios is open daily from 9am to 5pm unless they have programmed social events. Group camping is available and during that time the park will remain open overnight.
You may be wondering what you need to bring with you for this unique and adventurous opportunity. Well, this is a sub-tropic jungle and you will be exploring not only the jungle but the rivers, beaches and the ocean. You should bring with you in the way of clothing, tennis shoes or even hiking boots, a pair of beach sandals, a pair of shorts, 2 T-shirts, towel, hat, repellent and sunscreen. The insect repellent and sunscreen should be biodegradable, if you do not have any you can purchase some at the boutique while in the park. If you must bring personal belongings remember you will be carrying these items with you during your adventure or you can rent a small locker. They ask that you do not bring food or beverages, radios, recorders or pets into the park. This is also a non-smoking park. This is as close to a perfect preserved park, we should help keep it this way.
